Renaissance man. Multipotentialite. Dilettante.
I sometimes envy people who can pick one thing for life and stick with it no matter what, or pick a niche and make a name for themselves. There has never been a period in my life where I only worked on one project or wrote about one topic. I know much about a great many things.
My active and hungry mind forces me to keep searching for knowledge and experiences I may have missed in life. I want to jump to new territory and learn everything I can about each new interest, then move on and find other things to master.
Writing has always been a constant for me, for as long as I have been able to properly use a pencil, and academics is something I have a burning passion for, along with all other forms of learning. I am happy when reading a book or taking a course, and the more information I can absorb the more I smile like a fool.
I’ve started many projects, taken more courses than I could count, experienced books, most of which I do not remember. I became proficient in using technologies I may never use again, but learned them anyway. You never know when a skill can come in handy. I tried podcasting, video production, audio mastering, electronic music production, web design, publishing, editing, digital marketing, UI/UX, teaching, life coaching, woodworking, landscaping, cooking, e-commerce, gaming, and photography.
I’ve opened businesses or at least created business plans for a tour company, web design firm, restaurant, mental health website, custom gaming computer manufacturer, and an online social media marketing company.
I’ve built countless websites and blogs, publications, YouTube channels, and podcasts, and started hundreds of social media accounts. I have hard drives, floppy disks, CDs, thumb drives, and cloud drives full of business ideas, logos, social media graphics, business plans, website backups, blueprints, articles, essays, journals, and book ideas.
I would probably still be carrying a library of books in boxes around with me had I not moved to the other side of the world. As it is, I have more books in my Kindle account than I will read in four lifetimes.
