I’m Going Into “Monk Mode”
I love the idea, not the crowd
I spend a lot of time on YouTube. I truthfully think there is a lot of value to be had there, from tutorials to motivation, from Gary Vee to Price Ea. There are documentaries on plant-based diets and financial advice. Anything you want to learn; you can learn from YouTube.
But you have to be careful.
I came across a few videos touting the benefits of something called Monk Mode. The thumbnail looked interesting, “disappear for 6 months and see what can happen to your life!” The premise is for you to remove all the distractions from your life, and basically live like a monk. No social media, TV, sex, going out with friends. You focus on a few things for 6 months or more — health, a business — anything important enough to focus all your attention on.
A lot of these guys are saying it gave them the focus to build a business or lose weight, and they were hugely successful. The problem is that many of these guys are young and impressionable, many are incels. They survive on a diet of Joe Rogan and Jordan Peterson and buy into the toxic message that guys like this push.
But the idea is sound.
Imagine if you could somehow focus all your attention on one or two things at the expense of everything else. I have such an opportunity…
