Writer and ideator. Advocate and activist. Interested in cannabis, business, travel, and food and things that combine all those passions in one.

This is a “All Hands on Deck” moment!

Isn’t it great that in most states in the USA, patients can get legal cannabis to cure whatever is ailing them? On the state level, we have done so much to make sure people don’t have to suffer in pain because they couldn’t get the medicine they need.

Isn’t it equally great that recreational use of cannabis is legal in 18 states? A harmless plant with a million uses, that makes people feel good is finally legal to consume on the State level.

But there is a problem. Cannabis is still criminalized on the federal level, and is still a…

You have to be patient and stubborn

“I’ve had a tough life.”

Is that the understatement of all time or the petulant whining of a man-boy who never got what he wanted?

Truthfully, I think it’s a little of both.

On the one hand, fate saw fit to give me a severe mental illness that manifested early in life, but put me in a situation where no one would understand what was wrong with me. …

If I showed you how to improve the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) of your WordPress website or blog, get more traffic, and encourage people to stay longer or buy something from you, would that be valuable? Would that be worth a few minutes of your time?

Could I convince you that getting started with SEO is easier than you think and the best time is to get started is right now?

I don’t have to be a mind reader to know you and your business are ready.

I am not just going to show you what works in 2021, but…

Stop freaking out, it’s a really easy thing to do

Photo by Marcel Eberle on Unsplash

Back in 2018, when I started publishing on Medium, a writer didn’t need to get 100 followers before they joined the Medium Partner Program. I imagine I would have heard the same complains from my peers back then had it been a requirement.

But I wouldn’t have stressed out.

You see, I learned the secret long ago to gaining followers. But, it is really hard work and that is the problem. What I hear when I see all the complaints from new writers is not “How do I get 100 followers,?” …

It happens at work and it happens at home. You would think we would learn our lesson?

I admit sometimes all the nagging runs together into a blur. Oftentimes I try to tune out, but most times I will be thinking about how I am going to react to what she is saying.

Wait a minute, I wasn’t even listening?

See here’s the deal: this is my wife of ten years. It has always been a point of pride in our relationship that we are honest with one another. …

We finally admitted it today, but it doesn’t mean what you think it does

Photo by Afif Kusuma on Unsplash

It’s been a long time coming. After months of fighting and bickering, after all the nagging and name calling, we finally admitted that we are tired of each other and sick of trying to pretend.

We’d just scored a bag of McDonalds, which seems to be the only outside food available to us in the lockdown, and I was looking for a place to park in the mall parking lot. The kids were chattering happily in the back of the car. The wife and I were anticipating the calories, so for once, we weren’t arguing.

Out of the blue, she…

But, I’m not mad

You might suggest I am upset at being locked down in quarantine, but it couldn’t be further from the truth. Because they have been so careful there are only around 11k+ active cases in Western Visayas, which is the big island I live on.

I don’t want to mess with success.

More good news is that vaccinations are progressing and my wife and I are getting our second dose in October. Everywhere you look, people are wearing masks, and we all wear face shields when we will be in busy areas like the mall or grocery stores.

The kids are…

Life. I’m in it for the long haul

By the time I hit 30, my life was utterly screwed beyond repair. It wasn’t long after the realization that I was in and out of mental hospitals because of suicidal ideation, self-harm, psychosis, depression, anxiety, and panic attacks.

I never left my grungy one-bedroom apartment except to buy cigarettes, McDonalds, and weed. It was, in fact the weed that saved me, because it opened my mind and helped me understand that if my life was ever to change, it would be through small increments.

It took me a long time trying to deal with my mental illness to get…

I have come to a crossroads and I have nothing to show for it

Photo by Antonio Feregrino on Unsplash

Crossroads, meet Jason.

I’ve put three years into building my home on Medium. I started publishing in August 2018, but wasn’t serious until September. I had stars in my eyes, and planned to scoot my ass up the list of writers, right to the top dollar names and be earning thousands before I knew it.

That was the plan.

Along the way, the most prominent feeling I had was disappointment, with flashes of brilliant success, like the month I had an article go viral and made $3000. …

We cannot truly be free until every man, woman, and child is also free to do the things we so readily take for granted

“If you want to be in this industry, you have to be an activist.” — The Cannabis Business Book

In June 1971, Nixon declared a “War on Drugs.” He famously swelled the ranks and increased the presence of federal drug control agencies, and flooded government with measures and bills such as mandatory sentencing and no-knock warrants.

His main goal was to stop the spread of marijuana, which he had a particular boner for. Even though his own studies, namely a commission he appointed led by Republican Pennsylvania Governor Raymond Shafer had shown that cannabis was harmless and non-addictive, and they…
